Well where do I begin.
After spending my early teenage years doing Judo and cross country running, I felt that I had built myself a base and planted a seed, which would eventually grow when martial arts became a big part of my life.
During my later teenage years I got a job and you guessed it, I went out and partied, neglecting personal fitness and quitted the Judo!
I won't go into too much detail and bore you, but my path took another turn and I was physically attacked and bullied over a period of time. Although I wasn't badly hurt, I was psychologically affected for a long time and I lacked self confidence. I was so different to my once outgoing self.
One day I woke up and decided I want to change all this and enrolled in a local Karate Club; probably for all the wrong reasons, but hey, it got me there! Although daunting walking into the hall for the first time I have never looked back!
Over the years the reason for training in martial arts changed and it became like a drug because there was so much to learn in an ever developing sport. In the last 23 years I have studied many martial arts, including Karate, Kung Fu and Kickboxing, of which I have gained high grades, awards and trophies. I currently hold a Black Belt in Kickboxing and it has become my first great love of martial Arts because it is open to interpretation (depending on the rules you set down). I love the teaching side but still also like to get stuck into the training that comes along with it. I am currently studying Tai Chi and its fast becoming up on a par! I hope to one day also teach this, but that's another story.
